The chapters start with example scenarios that are very helpful in making the reader understand the issue without feeling called out. The examples are relatable, so the reader can learn from scenarios that apply to their own lives. The exercises at the end of the chapters was a great idea; keeping everyone accountable when working towards identifying their standards and setting boundaries.
By the end of the book, I felt like a transformation should be taking place, if not in actions then definitely in mindset. I certainly know a few people who could benefit from reading this book.
I really enjoyed the second half when the examples expanded beyond situations to environments and relationship structures (i.e. dealing with family and work relationships).
Every time the exercises were mentioned at the end of the chapter I thought it was time to get some push ups in, but then I’d realize it was a summary of what was discussed in the chapter and action items to be tackled. Made me chuckle every time.
