That epilogue was so sweet. Sort of made up for the rushed ending. I had to re-read what happened in the last few chapters because I lost track of how the “problem” was resolved. Now I think because of the inclusion of the epilogue, I can definitively answer that the reading order of these books should be Bookshops & Bonedusts after Legends & Lattes.
There was still a coziness to the tale, much like the original book Legends & Lattes, but it didn’t hold my interest as much. Until a “satchel” is introduced, then I was in it…but I think I was well past midway through the book when that happened.
Great original characters, maybe they had too much time on their hands? And not enough to do. Also, some characters I wanted to see more of….Pitts, Brand, Zelia and Berk. Not a bad problem to have, I guess, likeable characters that readers want more of. But maybe that was the point of it, left room for “the story beyond the story.”
✅ Spinoff novella nomination:
I want to know what Fern has been up to; or more about Zelia and Berk’s time together.
